News on the Permanent Diaconate

Congratulations to Wilf McSherry for successfully completing his first year at St Mary’s College, Oscott.  Bishop Mark has agreed that Wilf should receive the Rite of Admission as a Candidate and this will take place later this year.  Well done Wilf for all your hard work and to Helen for that much needed and valuable support.

 

Piety Stall Catalogues

There are catalogues available for Parishioners to choose items they wish to purchase. These are available from Helen McSherry on Sundays and when the piety stall is open on the 1st Sunday of the month when tea and coffee is served in the Church Hall.

 

Seniors Afternoon Cream Tea

The Parish will be holding the annual Senior’s Afternoon Cream Tea on Thursday 9th August from 4-6pm. If you would like to attend, please put your names on the list in the church porch. Donations of cakes, baking or raffle prizes would be most appreciated – thank you. For further information please contact Margaret McNulty on 01630 639562.

 

Market Drayton Foodbank – CHILD HOLIDAY MEAL APPEAL

The foodbank has launched its ‘Child Holiday Meal’ Appeal and is asking for donations to help feed children who will go hungry during the Summer holiday due to not receiving their free school lunch at school. Items such as the following are required please:

Packets of instant mash                     Tinned rice pudding

Packets of microwaveable rice         Tinned chilli con carne

Tinned hotdogs          Noodles           Tinned fruit          Biscuits

Request for help in the Church Garden

Help is desperately needed to help with the Church garden please. Anybody with green fingers or who would just like to help out, please contact David Milburn – thank you.

 

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Life Skills

There will be a CAP Life Skills course on offer at the Zone Community Centre on Thursday 6th September from 12.30-2pm. The free course aims to help people with basic budgeting, cooking and confidence building over a period of 8 weeks. CAP also offer debt help, addiction support and job seeking help through the other CAP services. For further information please phone 0800 3280006.

 

Prayer for Persecuted Christians

The next Churches Together prayer session for persecuted Christians will be held on Thursday 9th August starting at 7:30pm. The venue is Wollerton URC School Room, Wood Lane, Wollerton.
