Ash Wednesday

This Wednesday 6th March is Ash Wednesday, a Day of fasting and abstinence. Mass will be celebrated at 10am. Mass at Ss Peter & Paul, Newport will be at 12 noon and 7pm.

Stations of the Cross will be held on Fridays during Lent, here in Church at 7pm.


Walk with me Lents Booklets

These booklets are available in the Church Porch for each of the days of Lent priced at £1 each.


White Flower Appeal

There will be a White Flower Appeal today on behalf of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.


Parish Volunteers required

Both Jill and Dave Hunt are stepping down from the roles of Safeguarding Officer and Churches Together rep. respectively which they have held for many years. We thank them very much for all their work and commitment. We are therefore needing people to step up and volunteer for these roles please. We are all called to serve in the Church and there are many ministries we can be involved in. Therefore, please do come forward and speak to either Jill or Dave for further information. Thank you.


Coming Soon – Morning and Evening Prayer

During Lent, the Parish will be commencing Morning and Evening Prayer on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Parish would like to invite you all to come together to pray the hours of the Prayer of the Church by participating in praying the psalms, scripture and prayers, that have been an important tradition of the Church since early Christian times. Evening Prayer, with Exposition will take place on Monday evenings at 7pm and Morning Prayer will be at 9.30am on Wednesday mornings. We look forward to you joining us.


Toilet Facilities

Due to the Church Hall being unsafe to use, toilet facilities are now available behind the Presbytery in the back yard. Please use the path down the side and back of the house and enter the yard through the door. The toilet is the last door on the right around the corner.


Offertory Envelopes

Next year’s offertory envelopes will be available to collect from next Sunday in the Church Porch. If there are any Parishioners who would like to transfer to a Standing Order payment or vice versa, please speak to Helen McSherry – 01630 638177.


CAP Money Course

CAP Money is a free course that teaches people budgeting skills and a simple cash-based money management system. Dates are Tuesdays 9th, 23rd, 30th April at 7pm at the Parish Rooms. Contact Gill Carley 07855 460655 to book a place.


Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Volunteer Vacancies

CAP has the following Volunteer vacancies: Community Links Co-Ordinator (PR and promotion of all CAP Services – 4 hrs/week), CAP Office Administrator (basic admin., communications support – 4 hours/week, can be home based for some of the time). Both positions require people who are committed Christians and who are willing to attend CAP Head Office in Bradford for full training following a recruitment & selection process. Market Drayton Foodbank – Lent Appeal

The foodbank is launching its Lent Appeal this Wednesday and gives you the opportunity to help the Foodbank continue its vital work helping local people in crisis. Appeals include AdLent Calendar and 40p for 40 days. Please see posters and leaflets in the Church Porch. Food items may be left in the basket in the Church porch or at the Foodbank during one of the sessions – Tuesdays 10-11.30am and Fridays 12.30-2pm.
