This week our parish is marking CAFOD’s Family Fast Day to help people facing the worst of the coronavirus crisis. We’ve all felt the impact of this terrible disease – let’s come together to help the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world survive, rebuild and heal. Please pray for all those affected and donate online at cafod.org.uk/give or by using one of the envelopes. You can also give easily via text. Text CAFOD to 70085 to donate £10 (texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message) and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £10 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text CAFODNOINFO to 70085.
Centenary Mass (4th October) for Apostleship of the Sea
This year Stella Maris (formerly known as Apostleship of the Sea) is celebrating 100 years of its support to seafarers, fishers, and their families. To mark the beginning of the centenary year we will be holding a live-streamed Mass celebrated by Archbishop Philip Tartaglia of Glasgow. Please join us online to share in this very special celebration on Sunday 4th October at 3pm. The Mass will be streamed live at www.stellamaris.org.uk/centenarymass.
Churches Together Uniform Hub
A message from Churches Together…..During the summer we have distributed uniforms to those in financial difficulties. 43 families/ nearly 70 children have received uniforms. Although we still have a large stock there are inevitably items that we are short of and we would like to be able to purchase these items if we see them advertised for sale second hand. Would you consider giving a small donation so that this can be achieved. If so, it can be given to Gail Ackerley, 20 Forest Rd, or paid directly into the Churches Together in Market Drayton bank account sort code 403221 account number 62219875. Please put ‘Uniform’ as a reference.
Very many thanks. Enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org
Market Drayton Foodbank Harvest Appeal
Since the coronavirus pandemic began, food banks in the Trussell Trust network have seen a huge surge in need as more and more people find themselves unable to afford the essentials. This Harvest we want to make a difference by working together as a community to transform lives here in Market Drayton.
Market Drayton Foodbank supports individuals and families in crisis by providing emergency food supplies, as well as signposting people to agencies that are able to help resolve longer-term problems. Food banks rely on voluntary donations to provide this vital service to our community, and lots of these food donations come from Harvest collections. We want to make sure our Foodbank can support as many people as possible at this time – and you can help by joining our Harvest Appeal.
The Foodbank is collecting the following items:
Fruit Juice (long life), Tinned Fruit, Custard, Rice Pudding, Sponge pudding/slab cake, Mashed potato, Cereals, Biscuits & Chocolate Treats, Toiletries & Toilet Rolls, Washing powder & Liquid,
Please leave all donations in the Church Porch or you can deliver your donations to the Foodbank on Tuesdays or Fridays 9-11am. Please use the side door to access the Parish Rooms and drop off your donations on the table. Please wear a face covering/mask when entering the building and use the hand sanitiser provided
We want to provide the best support possible to people in crisis in our community and end the need for food banks – your support is hugely important to this journey.
Thank you for your support!
Mass is still being celebrated…
…on Wednesdays at 10am as well as Sundays at 11am.
Please remember to bring a face mask/covering with you and wear it in Church. There is a limit of 40 places in Church so please do not be offended if you are turned away. The offertory plate will be in the Church porch as you leave. If there are any Parishioners who wish to move to a standing order or envelope method of giving, please let us know.
