The Canonisation of Blessed John Henry Newman

We remember today, Blessed John Henry Newman who will be canonised this morning in Rome. Blessed John Henry Newman will be the first English person who has lived since the 17th century, officially recognised as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church. Prisoner’s Sunday

Today we pray for prisoners and their dependants. The day begins the ecumenical week of activity called Prisons Week. We pray that we may never forget that all people, whoever they are and whatever they may have done, are loved by God and called to be sharers in his Kingdom.

 

World Mission Sunday – Second Collection Next Weekend

Next Sunday is World Mission Sunday, when the Holy Father invites all Catholics to contribute to a special collection for Missio, his charity for world mission. Please support Missio in helping missionaries to work alongside communities throughout the world that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. Prayers for Persecuted Christians

The next Churches Together prayer session for persecuted Christians will be held on Wednesday 16th October 2 – 3:30pm. The group meets in the Lounge at Market Drayton Methodist Church. CAP Fresh Start Session

CAP Fresh Start helps you to discover freedom from life-controlling habits, like smoking, gambling, drinking or internet addictions. The next sessions start on Tuesday 29th October 5-6.30pm at Market Drayton Methodist Church. Book by calling Jill Alexander on 07845 762309.

 

Dr Elizabeth Gardiner (Betty)

Please pray for the happy repose of the soul of Betty Gardiner who has died aged 85. Her Requiem Mass will be held on Monday 14th October at 11am followed by interment at Market Drayton Cemetery.

 

CAFOD Fast Day 2019

This year’s Harvest Fast Day took place on Friday 4th October. Help to reach more children and communities this Harvest by donating using one of the envelopes provided and placing either in the Offertory collection or in the basket in the Church Porch. Thank you.

 

Market Drayton Foodbank Harvest Appeal

Please donate an item of food to help people in crisis in Market Drayton and surrounding area this Harvest time. There are shopping lists available in the porch with a list of food items most needed. All donations can be brought to Church and left in the Church Porch. Thank you.
