Home Mission Sunday Collection

Thank you for all your generous donations last week for the Home Mission Sunday collection. The Parish raised £110.26 which will be used to help Catholics in England and Wales become more confident in sharing their faith.

Book on Our Parish Church

Tim Strickland writes: Parishioners will be interested to know that a great deal of information has been assembled and compiled on the following: The Opening of the Church in 1886, the Consecration of the Church in 1887, the decorations of the Sanctuary 1896, a Calendar of Events in the story of the Church, the Altar relics, the Lives of the Parish Priests, Aquinas Hall, the Clifford Family, the De Trafford Family, the Harding Family, World War One and its aftermath. A more thorough search of the Diocesan Archives is intended. My apologies for the time it is taking. I know you will understand, but I must explain that my current priority is to complete the life of my father for publication as soon as possible. I’m afraid that this has had to come first.

CAFOD Harvest Family Fast Day – Friday 5th October

On Family Fast Day, CAFOD invites us to share in the abundance that God has given us. We are asked to fast, pray and five to help people like Longora, who lives in a remote village in Uganda.  The area is so hot and dry, people used to struggle to get enough clean water to survive. Thanks to the generosity of parishioners in England and Wales, CAFOD has made sure Longora and her neighbours now have a reliable supply of clean, safe water. On Family Fast Day on Friday 5th October, CAFOD invites us to eat simply, perhaps having a bowl of soup instead of a meal and give the money we save to help people like Longora. Please collect your Fast Day envelope from the church porch and give what you can – thank you.
